Hi Jim, thanks for your comment. This sounds like another All Lives Matter type of argument. There is nothing in being friendly that implies that you are discriminating and unfriendly towards anyone else. If someone said, "Only LGBTQ people need apply" that would be a discriminatory preference, or "No white people." Especially given the climate that we live in, it's more the norm to be LGBTQ and POC unfriendly. That's why employers are not violating the law when they say, "People of color, women, and other minorities encouraged to apply." This does not mean that they are against white, straight men applying. It is an encouragement given the actual social climate that needs to be expressed to show they are serious about equality.
