I learned from experience that Black people could not be friends with every white person who comes along. Some want a slice of our culture but not our struggle. They want to “be down” until it’s time to put action behind those lovely soliloquies.

I attended a workshop for mental health clinicians, or at least people interested in mental health, and the speaker said that black people have a "healthy skepticism" about white people. I liked that.
