… I couldn’t help but wonder if everyone around me thought the same thing as that man on the beach — that the only way I could possibly be affiliated with my husband’s family is if I were hired as “the help”. I wasn’t even guessed to be the friend, let alone part of the family. I was the glorified nanny.
